Educational objectives

After completing this session, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the growing public health problem of pertussis
  • Discuss the changing epidemiology of pertussis disease and the
    increasing incidence of disease in the adolescent and adult populations
  • Recognize the clinical presentation and risk factors for the disease in different age groups
  • Presentinformation on the impact that adolescent and adult pertussis disease has on the community and the preventative vaccines that are available
  • Describe immunization strategies for administration of Tdap vaccine
